After years of interviewing Joanna Vargas and hearing about her celebrity-coveted skincare studio, I finally had the chance to check it out for myself. When asked what type of facial I wanted to try, the first one that came to my mind was her famous Triple Crown Facial, which uses microcurrent to help depuff and firm the skin. It's known by celebs and the beauty industry as a workout for your face and most A-Listers like Julianne Moore, Naomi Watts, and Zac Posen to name a few, frequent the her services before big events.
A few weeks ago, Amazon came to my apartment to film a few segments for their show Style Code Live. The shoot was so much fun and one of my beauty tips aired last night. I share my absolute favorite lipstick and dish on how to make your lip look last. Check it out!
While our vanities are all loaded with face masks, sometimes it's best to keep things simple and DIY one with fresh ingredients that are already stocked in our kitchen. Here are some simple recipes to help rid blackheads, acne and hydrate. Enjoy!
Last September I featured the Conture Kinetic Skin Toning System on NBC's New York Live as a must have beauty gadget and now (see post), I'm excited to announce that they'll be on QVC next week. As you can imagine, my beauty closet and vanity are filled with all kinds of gadgets and gizmos with strong promises. Some work quickly to exfoliate and others, the anti-aging ones, demand consistent use in order to see real results. This is one of them and the proof is in the pudding.
Each season, I create a trend report based off of what I saw backstage at the fashion shows and bring it to you live on NBC. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of working with Jacquie Reid and Carolina Bermudez (of KTU). We talked bold lips, undone waves, metallic nails and more. You can check out my segment here.
Many of you have been writing in asking about the latest injectables to hit the market. Xeomin vs. Botox, Restylan, Sculptra, Radiesse... etc. While I haven't tried fillers myself, I do have the answers for you thanks to Dr. Terrence Keaney, a board-certified dermatologist and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at The George Washington University in Washington D.C.
I've recently fallen in love with three makeup products that make my complexion look perhaps the best it's ever looked (no joke) – clear, bright and glowing.
When it comes to makeup, I'm a less is more type of girl. I appreciate smooth, lasting formulas and vibrant pigments, but like to play up my features naturally with an emphasis on my eyes. Plus, I can create my whole "look" in under 10 minutes. That being said, one of Charlotte Tilbury's new Quick N Easy kits has been my latest, daily go-to and the mascara... well let me tell you...
As Valentine’s Day draws near to call upon the celebration of love, our attention is drawn to the signature flower, rose. Rose is more than just a symbol of affection, it is a champion skincare ingredient as well. The essential oil that rose produces bears remediable base properties that rejuvenate, restore and refresh the skin with its natural potency of Vitamin C. Here are some of our favorite rose infused beauty buys.
For the past month, I've been using the Nuvesse Firming & Anti-Aging Face Mask once per week and am impressed by the results. I first wrote about this serum-infused biocellose mask, because I was in awe of the technology (more information on that here) and had high hopes that it would help to smooth out my fine lines and like promised, give me a more youthful appearance. I'm only (only?) 33, but of course, like most of you, have been chasing my youth for quite some time now.
If you've been following my InstaStories, then you see that I've been testing a ton of lipsticks and glosses lately. Personally, when choosing a lipstick color, I love wearing neutral or berry shades, but my real lipstick obsession is for anything vampy. This may sound insane, but when deciding I'm in the mood for a vampy lip, I revolve the rest of my outfit (and of course makeup) around it. It's a look that's strong enough to take center stage. With Valentine's Day approaching, it seems appropriate to share some of my favorites. Here are the best lipsticks for a seductive smile.
I was so excited to do this segment on New York Live this week. Marrying my two passions of beauty and fitness, I showed Sara Gore the hottest beauty products made for the fitness fanatic. And yes, I use all of them. Check out the segment here.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw that Joe and I went to Sundance opening weekend and took full advantage of all Park City, UT has to offer. Besides attending film premieres and practicing yoga (of course), we had a blast in the snow. With temperatures in the 20's and 30's layering up properly was crucial – starting with my moisturizer.
After snowmobiling at Sundance, Joe and I spent the afternoon at the Serenity Spa at our hotel, the Westgate Part City Resort & Spa, which was such a treat! Attending the Sundance film festival is far from a vacation. The movie schedules are crazy and shuffling to and from events in the snow during the overcrowded week is exhausting so a time out was much appreciated. This was the first time I felt truly relaxed at a spa in a very long time.
If there's one skincare ingredient we should all be using it's retinol (unless your pregnant, of course). The Vitamin A derivative has been the most recommended anti-aging ingredient by dermatologists for years now and is known as the rolls-royce of the beauty industry. This new product by Neutrogena is a game changer.
Before there was Instagram and SnapChat, there was WordPress and Blogger, and those were the platforms my friends and I used to begin to build beauty blogs, establish authority in the industry and share our passions with the world. All entrepreneurs, here we share advice on breaking into the industry and our first ever head shots.
As a beauty reporter for ten plus years, one of my absolute favorite parts of the job is learning about new technology in skincare, something that never seems to get old. Recently, I was introduced to Nuvesse, a brand consisting of serum-infused face masks and serum rollers that first gained their popularity in the aesthetic medical field. Nuvesse initially began as a company that created custom wound-dressings for medical use with technology that helped to heal wounds. Therefore, it only made sense for them to bring the same technology and delivery system to skincare for us all to benefit from. Enter the Nuvesse Firming & Anti-Aging Face Mask.
For this piece, I was inspired by this piece by my esthetician, Erica Cerpa, at EC Beauty Studio in Hoboken. We were talking about the best time to get a facial in order to prevent pre-period breakouts and just like that, a new story was born. I never thought about revolving my beauty treatments like facials, waxing, lasering, masking etc. around my hormone cycle, but trust me – it makes sense. Here's a timeline of the best time to treat yourself according to your cycle on Refinery29.
I had a blast on Amazon's Style Code Live again last night! It's my new favorite show to be a part of because the cast and crew are so vibrant, welcoming and all around fun. The vibe behind the scenes is upbeat and segments are innovative. Last night, I talked New Year Beauty Resolutions with Rachel Smith and Frankie J. Grande. Check it out here. PS: One of my models, Catie, is my sister-in-law!
I already know that you guys love this line – Yes to. I've been watching the brand, (which started with Yes to Carrots), evolve throughout my decade long career in the beauty industry and am constantly impressed with their new collections. Always priding themselves on effective, good-for-you skincare at bargain prices, Yes to is perhaps my favorite drugstore beauty brand of all time. Their latest launch arrived just in time for winter.
Yesterday at NBC, I got to work with two incredibly talented guest hosts, Lilliana Vasquez and Joelle Garguilo. Having worked with them before but on separate accounts, I knew I was in for some fun when I was told they would both be accompanying my segment. Here's my latest and last segment for 2016 on holiday beauty prep with two serious power women. Enjoy!
There's no doubt that the holiday season can take a toll on our beauty and wellness regimens. Here are five beauty hacks that'll help you look your best despite all of the partying.
"Tired skin" used to be a common concern of patients who visited expert dermatologist, Dr. Dennis Gross. This trend initially stumped him. What did they mean by tired skin? And what could he do to fix it? His latest collection focuses on bringing skin cells back to life through a groundbreaking, potent form of Vitamin C complex in each of his new products. Just like a battery, our skin cells need to be charged and the new collection offers the ultimate regimen to keep your skin looking young and radiant.
I took the lovely, Joelle Gargulio from NBC around the city to two beauty spots that offer memberships for their regular customers. First, Joelle got her brows done at The Wax Club, which is an impressively clean waxing salon and then we visited HeyDay, where I got a facial on camera and showed off my fresh skin sans makeup. Check out the segment here and find more beauty memberships worth joining in my previous post.
Don't let the cold weather wreck havoc on your hair. Here are some of the best lotions and potions that help add moisture and shine to your otherwise uncontrollably dry strands.
I first discovered Laurel at the Indie Beauty Expo in NYC earlier this year and after talking to the founder, knew the skincare collection was something special. The flower and herb based line is crafted mindfully using 100% organic ingredients (you won't even find water or alcohol in their ingredient list). After testing a slew of products, I fell in love with the Honey Berry Enzyme Mask, one of the brands top sellers.
If you haven’t thought about switching up your skincare regimen for winter yet, the time is now. Yes, even if your lips haven’t started cracking, your cuticles are still intact, and scales have yet to appear on your legs. Check out my latest on Refinery29.
When it comes to gifting, we love personalization. Not only does it make gifts unique (seriously who needs another damn scarf?), but also just a bit more thoughtful. Here are some of our favorite holiday gifts that can be customized in order to make someone feel special.
During the holiday season, beauty brands package their best sellers into affordable kits, making it a great time to stock up for yourself! here are some of our favorites that we definitely plan on snagging and gifting too, of course. happy shopping!
Last week I had the pleasure of joining the Amazon Style Code Live team to showcase a few really innovative beauty products. You know I love bringing my content to life on camera and the atmosphere at this show makes me feel so alive. It's a smart, online TV show where you can actually shop what I'm talking about during the segment. Genius! Check out (and shop) my latest segment here.
