This year at the Indie Beauty Expo (see post on best sellers), I met several inspiring entrepreneurs in the 'natural' beauty space, but one of them, the Founder of Edible Beauty, Anna Mitsios, really intrigued me. As an Austrailian naturopath working in a fertility clinic, she studied the affects of skincare ingredients on hormones, which brought upon her passion project, Edible Beauty.
Earlier this week I had the pleasure of attending a media launch party for Deepak Chopra and Kimberly Snyder's new book, Radical Beauty. As an avid follower of both, the spiritual leader and nutritionist, I was excited to hear what they had to say and cannot get enough of the book. It's by far the most scientifically comprehensive beauty book that's landed on my desk (and trust me, I've seen a ton). Here, Kimberly dishes on her inspiration behind the book, food diary and finding balance.
One of my favorite go-to's in NYC for a bite or juice has always been Organic Avenue. Hands down, it was well established, innovative and jumping before juices became trendy. This past year, when hearing the news of the store closings, I was devastated! Of course, there are other places I could go for a smoothie these days, but this was my spot and I know many NYers who felt the same way. But guess what? It's back and Founder, Denise Mari, took the time to share details about the new story openings, veganism and her favorite NYC restaurants.
I met Jennifer (also known as Skinny Chef) at a dinner she hosted earlier this year combining food with alchemy and meditation. Yes, I know... right up my alley. As a nyc chef, holistic health coach and yoga teacher, I was intrigued by how she combined her passions to create the workshop and had to introduce you to her.
When I picked up Kathryn Budig's new book, Aim True, I immediately wanted to be friends with her. As a yoga teacher and author, she's taking the wellness scene by storm by inspiring her followers to be honest with themselves and live a life of fulfillment by "nourishing their spirit." Kathryn recently partnered with Vapour Organic, to create a signature multi-use product. Here' she talks about what drew her to yoga, her favorite beauty buys and favorite LA hot spots.
I first met Chrissy Carter at a YogaWorks teacher training information night back in the fall and knew from her energy and passion for the craft, that I had to learn from her. Now, a graduate of the intensive teaching program she lead in January (see post), I can tell you that she truly is a beautiful soul. As someone who inspires and mentors me, I'm excited to introduce you her.
I first heard of Dr. Frank Lipman because his PR firm was educating me about a cleanse he created. Years later, after reading his two books and familiarizing myself with his mission, I'm even a bigger fan than I was before. As an internist, Dr. Lipman practices what he calls "good medicine" by incorporating an Eastern approach to holistic healing with modern Western medicine at Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in NYC. As a health coach, he is someone I greatly admire.
Ten years ago, I sat in Harry Josh's chair at the Gansevoort Hotel in the Meat Packing District and had the please having him styling my hair right before he had to get Lindsay Lohan ready for a party in the room next door. I'll never forget how my hair looked when he was done as the wave pattern was one I'd never be able to create myself and it was the first time a celeb stylist ever touched my hair. Since, I've worked with him and watched his career flourish. As someone in the industry that I truly admire, I'm excited to share more so you too, can get to know the man behind Giselle Bundchen's bombshell waves.
